Promising performance from Maldives despite defeat against Bhutan

Maldives lost 4-2 to Bhutan in the SAFF Women's Futsal Championship. Despite the loss, Maldives demonstrated the progress they have been making in every match during this game as well.

Maldives played better than before in both attack and defense.

After Pema Kuenzen scored a goal for Bhutan in the first half, Maldives managed to equalize the score. Raniya Ibrahim leveled the game for the Maldives using a pass by Aminath Shamila.

However, Yeshi Bidha regained the lead for Bhutan during this half.

In the second half, Namgayen Dema scored Bhutan's third goal, and Tshering Lhaden scored the fourth. Aminath Saliya scored the second goal for the Maldives with one minute remaining in the match.

Additionally, Maldives had several goal-scoring opportunities that went to waste, while the Maldivian goalkeepers showed alertness against many of the chances Bhutan received.

With this result, the Maldives remains at the bottom of the table without a point from four matches. By defeating the Maldives, Bhutan moved up to third place with eight points from four matches.

Currently in first place is Bangladesh, who defeated Sri Lanka 6-3 today; Bangladesh has secured 10 points from four matches. Second-placed India has nine points from four matches.

While Nepal and Pakistan both have seven points from five matches, Nepal defeated Pakistan 5-1 today. So far in the tournament, the Maldives and Sri Lanka are the only teams yet to secure a win.

Sri Lanka obtained a point against Nepal in their first match.

In their fifth match, the Maldives will face Sri Lanka on Friday at 3:00 PM.
