Buru Sports Club has solidified its position in the top four of the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League without any pressure, following a dominant 4-1 victory over Club Valencia at the National Football Stadium this afternoon.
Previously, fifth-placed Club Eagles trailed Buru by just two points, but this win has allowed Buru to pull away with a five-point lead over them. Beyond simply easing the pressure from behind, Buru has also climbed to third place in the league standings with a total of 26 points, having played one more match than New Radiant Sports Club. New Radiant, currently in fourth with 24 points, is set to face TC Sports Club tonight.

In today's match, Valencia started with young goalkeeper Ahmed Lizufan Latheef after their primary keeper, Viorel Boian of Moldova, was suspended following a second yellow card in their previous match against Victory.
Valencia took a surprise lead in the 27th minute through Hassan Nawaz, but they could not maintain the advantage for even five minutes. In the 31st minute, Mohamed Naim equalized for Buru from a penalty, marking his 12th goal of the league season.

Buru’s victory was further secured by a brace from Senegalese midfielder Dienwandoo Diagne.
Additionally, Abdulla Yamin, who recently returned from a long injury layoff, continued his impressive form by scoring in his second consecutive appearance. For Club Valencia, this defeat is a major blow to their hopes of reaching the relegation playoffs.
Currently sitting in ninth place with a young squad, Valencia’s primary objective this season is to avoid direct relegation. In this 10-team league, the bottom two teams will be automatically relegated to the Second Division.
