Maziya Sports and Recreation has further solidified its dominance at the top of the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League following a convincing 3-0 victory over Victory Sports Club.

Maintaining an unbeaten record this season, Maziya has now accumulated 40 points from 14 matches, opening up a commanding 11-point lead at the summit of the table.

This match marked the first defeat for Victory SC in the second round of the league, leaving them in fifth place, just one point ahead of sixth-placed Club Eagles.

The goals for Maziya were delivered by Ahmed Aiham (Fatho), Hamza Mohamed (Hampu), and the promising young forward Mohamed Ilan Imran at the National Football Stadium.

The deadlock was broken in the 55th minute when right-back Hussain Shifau Yoosuf (Kuro) delivered a precise ball into the box, which Aiham expertly converted.

Shortly after, in the 63rd minute, Maziya doubled their lead through a penalty converted by Hamza Mohamed, following a foul on Hassan Nazeem (Choatu) inside the area.

The final blow came when Mohamed Ilan Imran pounced on a rebound to score Maziya’s third. While Victory’s goalkeeper, Nepal’s national captain Kiran Kumar Limbu, managed to save a powerful free-kick from Hamza, he was unable to prevent Ilan from tucking away the loose ball. With this win, Maziya continues their record-breaking streak, having now gone nearly four years without a defeat in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, the race for fifth place remains tight, with Club Eagles having the opportunity to leapfrog Victory if they win their match against United Victory tonight.
