In the opening match of the newly launched VAM Maldives Volleyball Super League, Maafushi emerged victorious over Addu.

This indoor volleyball tournament, organized by the Volleyball Association of Maldives (VAM), is the first of its kind to be open to all islands and cities across the Maldives.

Notably, it is the first competition where teams from various islands and cities have been granted direct entry to the indoor hall of the Social Centre without having to go through any preliminary qualifying rounds.

In previous years, VAM conducted tournaments using a zone format where teams had to qualify from their respective zones to reach the final tournament. During the tenure of former VAM President Mohamed Ranesh, the Maldives Atoll Volleyball Championship was introduced specifically for the atolls. That format involved competitions within each atoll, where the champions of the men's and women's divisions would advance to the zone rounds.

However, that tournament stalled after only the atoll-level competition for Faafu Atoll was completed, where Magoodhoo won the women's title and Bilehdhoo took the men's. Although a beach volleyball tournament with a similar format to the current Super League was announced in 2025, it was postponed and has since remained inactive.

Following this, Maafushi allowed no further opportunities for Addu, winning the third set by a significant margin of 25-7 and sealing the match by winning the final set 25-23.
