Maldives defeat Sri Lanka university side in training match

Maldives national men’s volleyball team defeated a Sri Lankan university in a training match on Sunday as they prepare for an international tournament in Nepal next month.

The Maldivian team will compete in the Tiger Cup Invitational Club Tournament, which will feature seven teams, including Nepal Police Club, Nepal Army Club, Armed Police Force Club, Gandaki Province’s volleyball team, a district team from Parbat, and a club side from Gujarat, India.

As part of their preparations, the Maldives team, coached by former Iran national team player Farhad Nazari Afshar, played Kelaniya University’s volleyball team at the Social Centre indoor hall.

Maldives won the match in 3–2 sets.
