Bank of Maldives (BML) has signed a three-year agreement with the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) to sponsor the country’s national football teams.

Under the agreement, BML will be the exclusive sponsor of the men’s, women’s and youth national teams.

Speaking after the signing, BML’s CEO and managing director, Mohamed Shareef, said the bank was proud to support the national teams and remained committed to developing sports talent in the country.

“We attach great importance to supporting the development of sports talent in the Maldives. Through our support for the national football teams, we hope to promote football and inspire future generations,” he said.

FAM president Ahmed Thoriq (Tom), said the sponsorship reflected the bank’s confidence in the association and its efforts to revive Maldivian football.

“This partnership will not only support our national teams but also help strengthen football development across the country,” he said.

BML has a long history of supporting Maldivian sports. The bank recently signed an agreement with the Maldives Olympic Committee to provide sports scholarships to athletes for the third consecutive year, and also supports sports including basketball, swimming and surfing.
