Buru secures third place in league

Buru Sports Club has secured third place in the league after beating Eagles with a score of 3-2.

The three points from yesterday's game gives Buru 20 points from 11 matches. New Radiant, who were in third previously, and Buru are equal in points but Buru is in the lead due goal advantage. Buru has a goal advantage of 16, with a 13 goal advantage for New Radiant.

New Radiant's race to the top was halted by their loss against Victory during Friday night's game.

During yesterday's game played at the national football stadium, Eagles was the first to take the lead, with Ibrahim Mahudhee Hussain (Feydhoo Ibbe) scoring.

Eagles' Sierra Leone defender Ibrahim Lebbie sent the ball from outside the penalty box into it, where Mahudhee proceeded to slot the ball into goal. The low ball went past Buru goalkeeper Hassan Aleef Ibrahim into the far corner.

Buru's Mohamed Naim equalized for his team in the 83rd minute, with the chance being created by Hodgson Diaz. Hodgson broke away from Eagles' defenders and passed the ball to a free Naim, who proceeded to shoot right into the far corner of the goal. Eagles goalkeeper Mohamed Ashwan was not able to stop the ball.

Buru's Ibrahim Usama Hassan Majeed scored to take the lead five minutes later.

Buru's experienced defender Ahmed Abdulla (Lily) sent a long ball from the middle of Eagles' half. It rebounded off the post of the goal, with Usama at the ready to score.

Buru's third goal was scored by Naim and was assisted by Hodgson, who had passed the ball to Naim close to the middle of the Eagles' half. Naim entered into the penalty box from a corner and proceeded to score.

Eagles' second goal was scored by experienced 43 year old midfielder Shamveel Qasim (Bondaa).
