Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has announced that the final
three matches of the Women's League will be held at the Galolhu
National Football Stadium.
While the league was originally scheduled to take place at the national stadium,
the venue was shifted to the Henveiru stadium at the start of the month due to
severe pitch damage caused by heavy rain.
Following discussions with the Sports Ministry, the decision was made to
protect the turf for the ongoing Dhivehi Premier League and national team
fixtures, leading to 12 matches of the six-team women's tournament being played
at Henveiru.
Currently, Maziya and Odi Sports lead
the table with 10 points each from four matches, remaining the only two
undefeated teams in the competition. Victory Sports Club and New Radiant Sports
Club follow with five points each, while TC Sports Club has secured three
points. Bis Buru Sports Club remains at the bottom of the standings, yet to
earn a point.
The match returns to the National Stadium on Sunday afternoon with TC
facing New Radiant, followed by Bis Buru against Victory on Monday.
The league will conclude on Tuesday with a highly
anticipated "winner-takes-all" clash between Maziya and Odi Sports,
which will determine the first-ever champions of the Maldives Women's Football
League.
This inaugural tournament serves as a critical scouting platform, as FAM
officials intend to select the national women’s football and futsal squads
based on individual performances throughout the competition.
