Mihaaru has been designated as the official media partner for "Oceanman Maldives," the local franchise of the globally renowned Oceanman Global open-water swimming series, set to be held in the Maldives next year.

The race is scheduled to take place in K. Maafushi in April next year. The event is anticipated to be the largest open-water swimming competition ever held in the Maldives, with a high number of international swimmers already registered.

The partnership agreement was signed today at the Mihaaru editorial office. Editor Ahmed Hamdhoon signed on behalf of the newspaper, while Hussain Shameem signed on behalf of Swim Maldives, the local organizer of Oceanman Maldives.

Hamdhoon commented that, based on the number of international participants, this will be one of the largest sports events held in the Maldives to date, and the newspaper is pleased to be involved. Hamdhoon stated: "We are a media outlet that always prioritizes the advancement and promotion of sports in the Maldives. Our team will prepare thoroughly to bring full coverage of this historic competition to the entire country."

The event is endorsed by the national tourism promotion company, Visit Maldives Corporation, and will be held in collaboration with the Maldives' tourism branding efforts.

The top 10 swimmers from each age category in the Oceanman Maldives race will qualify for the Oceanman World Championship. The World Championship is an annual, invitation-only event for qualified athletes. Medals and trophies will be awarded to the top three swimmers in the overall race, and the top three swimmers in each age category.

Oceanman Global, introduced 10 years ago, is recognized as the world's first franchised open-water swimming competition. Franchise events are held annually in 26 different countries, featuring 38 races, with participation typically ranging from 1,500 to 2,000 swimmers per race.

Safety and security protocols for the Maldives event will adhere to international standards, as the competition is held under the Oceanman Global franchise rights.
