Defender Mohamed Rasheed (Hokey) was taken to the ADK Hospital emergency room Saturday evening after collapsing during a Dhivehi Premier League match and suffering multiple seizures.

The incident occurred in the 66th minute of Odi Sports’ game against TC Sports at the National Football Stadium. Rasheed, the Odi captain, leapt to head a ball near the centre circle and fell to the ground.

He received immediate treatment on the pitch before being carried off on a stretcher and transported to hospital.

Odi official Ali Shifaz said Rasheed had three seizures; one on the field, another en route to hospital, and a third after arrival.

“He’s being treated in the ER. He’s somewhat stable now,” Shifaz said.

Rasheed, a former national team defender, has a history of health issues. He previously suffered from asthma and had collapsed in an earlier match before returning to play after a four-year absence from the first division.

He had briefly announced his retirement but later reversed the decision, captaining Odi to the second division title last season.
