Mohamed Athif, who began coaching TC Sports Club yesterday, played his first game today against the former team he had coached, Odi Sports Club.
TC ended up losing to Odi with a 3-0 score in the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League.
While Athif was coaching Odi, he managed to win the Second Division's tournament and get Odi promoted to the First Division.
Athif began coaching Victory earlier this year, but stepped down from that role due to a lack of club activities at the time. He went on to coach the women's national football team.
Athif has coached TC in 2019 as well, with the team being led by Ahsan Rasheed prior to Athif taking up the mantle yesterday. As Athif was named Head Coach, Ahsan moved to become Assistant Coach. FAM's unofficial tournament saw TC being coached by Ahsan.
Odi's first goal was scored by Lithuanian forward Karolis Laukžemis. Defender Ahmed Aiham sent the ball into TC's penalty box, with Karolis sliding in to send the ball to goal.
The football pitch was not in the best state due to the rain. Both teams saw difficulties in playing due to this.
Odi's second goal was scored by Muzdhan Hassan in the 37th minute. Ibrahim Waheed Hassan passed the ball from outside TC's penalty box towards Odi's Abdullah Looth Ibrahim and Muzdhan.
Looth let the ball go to Muzdhan, with Muzdhan subsequently scoring.
Odi's third goal was scored by Ahzam Rasheed and was assisted by Muzdhan. Muzdhan passed the ball to an unmarked Ahzam into TC's penalty box from the side of the box. Ahzam shot the ball into goal without giving TC goalkeeper Ismail Ali a chance to push him.
With this win, Odi finishes second on the league leaderboard, with this seeing an end to the league's first round.
