Victory lets two goal lead slip in 2–2 draw with Eagles

The draw leaves Eagles on 13 points at the end of the first round of the DPL. Victory sit on eight points from nine matches.

Victory lost a two goal lead and were held to a 2–2 draw by Eagles in their Dhivehi Premier League match at the National Stadium.

The match started well for Victory, who were able to secure a two goal lead in the first 20 minutes. Brazilian forward Vladimir Everton opened the scoring before the 10-minute mark, picking up a ball outside the Eagles’ box and scoring after carrying it into the area.

Defender Amdhan Ali doubled the lead soon after, with Abdulla Midhath Fahumy (Bichard) heading on a corner for Amdhan to convert.

But Eagles captain Ahmed Rizwan (Rizey) equalized with two goals for Eagles. His first came after Victory goalkeeper Mahmoud Al-Youssef parried a low shot from Ismail Easa. With Victory’s defence slow to react to the rebound and Rizwan scored the goal.

He equalized the score in the 63rd minute, collecting the ball outside the area and scoring a shot into the far corner of the goal.
