Maziya achieve 100 percent record in first round after defeating New Radiant

Maziya Sports and Recreation has completed the first round of the Dhivehi Premier League (DPL) with a perfect record after coming from behind to defeat New Radiant by a score of 2-1.

Maziya secured the top spot in the league with 27 points, having won all nine matches played in the first round. Maziya is the only team in the league with a 100 percent winning record.

This match marked the return of the rivalry between Maziya and New Radiant in the Maldives' top division after a seven-year hiatus.

In the match played at the National Football Stadium this afternoon, New Radiant took the lead within the first 10 minutes. New's goal was scored by Brazilian forward Guilherme Silva from a pass delivered into the side of the box by New's captain, Ali Fasir (Sente), from outside the area.

Maziya equalized before halftime with a goal from Ahmed Aiham (Fatho), assisted by Hamza Mohamed (Hampu), who was facing his former club, New Radiant, for the first time.

Hamza contributed significantly by scoring the winning goal in the 73rd minute after Aiham made an effective advance and assisted him with a precise pass, which New Radiant's defenders could not intercept.

The match was part of the DPL, with Victory Sports Club scheduled to play against Eagles later that evening.
