Buru Sports secured a 2-0 victory over United Victory this afternoon in
the Dhivehi Premier League, propelling them into contention for a top-four
spot.
Both goals for Buru were scored in the first half by Areen Abdulla Ibrahim, giving Buru the lead.
The goal
originated from a corner kick delivered into the United Victory area by Ali Hamdhaan, which
Ala Nasir headed upwards. Areen quickly capitalized on the rebound that landed
in front of the goal, tapping it into the net.
Buru's second goal was scored in the 45th minute by Hudson
Jesus.
Mohamed Leevan Nadeem crossed the ball into the penalty
box from just outside the United Victory area. The Brazilian forward Hudson headed the ball
past United Victory's Egyptian goalkeeper Ali Aadil Musthafa Ali, who attempted to
intercept but was beaten to the ball by Hudson.
With this win, Buru has now accumulated 11
points. The team is closely trailing Club Eagles, which is currently in fourth
place. Only a single point separates Buru Sports from Eagles.
