Securing the Men's Junior Champion title in the final National Bodyboarding League tournament, Bandufilaa Challenge, Eyan Ahmed has been crowned the league champion.
In the final heat on Thursday, Eyan faced off against Abdul Ahad from Sh. Kan'ditheemu and scored 12.10 points against Ahad's 8.93.
Ahad made it to the finals through beating Mohamed Azan Ahmed - who was last year's league champion through winning all tournaments - in the semi-final heat. Eyan won against Nooh Mohamed Dhunaim Irshad in the semi-finals.
This is Eyan's first time winning the Junior League Championship. He secured the Champion spot in this year's league's first tournament, Burunu Shikaaru, and competed in the finals of the next tournament, Labera Challenge.
At the start of the Bandufilaa Challenge, Eyan and Azan were at the top of the Junior League ranking. Eyan secured the Burunu Shikaaru championship through winning against Azan in the final. Azan, however, defeated Eyan in the Labera Challenge.
National Banfufilaa Challenge is the most prestigious tournament of the Bodyboarding League. Champions of this tournament win 2000 points, while all other tournament winners get a 1000 points. Eyan became League Champion with 3,860 points. Azan holds 3,320 points.
Prior to this, Eyan also emerged as Champion in the Men's Open of the Bandufilaa Challenge last year. This year in the Men's Open, Eyan lost to Amin Umar Moosa in the quarter-finals.
