This question was raised by media
outlets in the region as the tournament is being held outside the South Asian
zone. SAFF General Secretary Purushottam Kattel explained the reasoning:
Puruthosham Kattel stated that South
Asia lacks adequate facilities for both Futsal and Beach Soccer. "In these
areas (Futsal and Beach Soccer), South Asia is lagging behind other
regions," he said.
"We have also observed a
scarcity of officials operating in Futsal within this region compared to other
regions, so it is crucial for us to start developing Futsal in our
region."
