Maldives national football team captain Hamza Mohamed (Hampu) has said that the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers game against Philippines today is for the future of Maldives and requested aid from supporters.
In the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers, Maldives is the only team in their group that does not have a point. The group includes Tajikistan and Timor-Leste along with Maldives and Philippines. Timor-Leste have also scored three points against Maldives in their game at Australia.
Hamza said that every national team game is important and a match for the future.
"Today's match is very important. Every match in the future can be seen as important," said Hamza.

He said that the players will work hard to get a good result from the match. He also said that cooperation from the supporters is also important.
"We are looking to see whether we can get a lot of supporters into the stadium. This will motivate the team," said Hamza.
The Philippines had played against Maldives at the island nation in November 2019 for the World Cup 2022 qualifiers. The Philippines won that match with a score of 2-1.
The match against the Philippines will be held at the national stadium and will begin at 3:30pm.
