National team midfielder Ahmed Aiham (Fatho) admitted that his actions regarding his removal from the national team were not correct.

Aiham was dropped from the national team last Monday after he left the squad to play in a Futsal tournament.

The Football Association of Maldives (FAM) stated that Aiham played in the Futsal tournament without notifying the team officials or obtaining prior permission while he was part of the national squad.

In a statement released today, Aiham apologized to the FAM, the national team players, officials, and supporters.

Aiham had played for his home island team, Utheemu, in the Futsal tournament organized between the islands of HA. Atoll Council.

Aiham took full personal responsibility for the "mistake" he made.

"I did not act professionally. And my actions did not align with the qualities expected of a national team player," the statement from Aiham read.

The Maziya midfielder said that he has learned a "valuable lesson" from his mistake and vowed to work hard again to regain the trust of the FAM, the national team players, and the coaches.
