Manadhoo beats Kendhikulhudhoo, wins Noonu championship

Manadhoo and Kendhikulhudhoo will now advance to the second zone tournament.

Manadhoo claimed the Noonu Atoll title in the BML Atoll Championship after defeating Kendhikulhudhoo in the two leg match.

Manadhoo won the first leg 3–2 at home on Sunday. Kendhikulhudhoo took the lead in the 31st minute through Afrah Mohamed, but Mifzal Abdullah equalized before halftime.

The match came alive in the final 10 minutes with Ahmed Ali putting Manadhoo ahead in the 82nd minute, Mohamed Areef equalized for Kendhikulhudhoo in the 89th, before Mifzal struck the winner in stoppage time.

In the second leg palyed at Kendhikulhudhoo, Afrah opened the scoring in the 15th minute. Manadhoo’s Zalishan Hassan equalized before halftime and later scored the winning goal in the 80th minute to seal the championship.

Manadhoo and Kendhikulhudhoo will now advance to the second zone tournament.

Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has divided the country into four regions, with each atoll’s champion and runner-up qualifying for sub-zone tournaments.

The top teams will progress to the regional league, with a chance to reach the Dhivehi Premier League playoffs.
