Experienced marathon runner Nasrullah Ahmed finished his 100th marathon last month in Bali, Indonesia.

His list now consists of 100 marathons. However, 12 of the marathons that he had participated in Maldives were not approved.

"The marathons held in Maldives are not being approved as they are not up to international standards," said Nasrullah.

Nasrullah has gone to the Athletics Association and submitted his list in order to have his marathon's approved. Nasrullah said that the association is working on getting them approved.

However, Nasrullah stated that the 12 races that were held in Maldives he competed in were not approved.

"Marathons in Maldives are held by private companies. If such companies organize marathons in the future, they need to ensure they are up to international standards," said Nasrullah.

"Only then will marathons held in Maldives receive approval."

Nasrullah's first marathon was MTCC's marathon held in Male' in 1999. However, that marathon was not approved either.

Nasrullah said that getting 100 approved marathons is a dream of his.

"My biggest dream is to hit that target if the opportunity presents itself before I retire from the military," said Nasrullah.

He will need to compete in 12 more races in order to reach that target. He has decided to compete in a marathon held in Malaysia in December.

Nasrullah's most special year in his marathon career is 2018. He had competed in 13 marathons and completed all of them in under four hours. His best marathon was in 2020 during the Hindustan Marathon in 2020, where he had placed first.
