Victory Sports Club has entered a consecutive winning streak after defeating United Victory with a narrow 1-0 score line in the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier
League today.
Victory was one of the last clubs to begin preparations for the season,
which started in September. Their lack of adequate preparation affected their
early results in the league. The team started the season with the current
Assistant Coach, Adam Abdul Latheef (Lachey), named as the interim head coach.
Current Head Coach Gergely Geri took over the team earlier last month.
Under the coach's guidance, Victory has now won two out of three
matches.
Today’s match demonstrated how Victory is gradually adapting to Coach Geri’s
tactical plans.
However, United Victory's defense proved resilient, giving Victory very
little space behind their back line.
Victory managed to exploit a gap in the United Victory defense only once throughout the
match. In the 73rd minute, they capitalized on this opportunity when Vladymyr
Ovaton scored the decisive goal.
Hussain Niyaz Mohamed played the ball to Ovaton inside the area. Ovaton
controlled the ball and took a shot that was blocked by a UV defender's foot.
However, the defender failed to secure the ball. Ovaton immediately retrieved
the rebound and slotted the ball into the corner of the net.
With this win, Victory moves up to fourth place in the table with nine
points. Buru Sports, currently in fifth place with one less match played, is
set to face New Radiant tonight.
United Victory remains in sixth place with four points.
