Odi Sports Club has returned to the winning track after securing a 2-1
victory over Buru Sports Club.
Odi's winning streak in the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League was interrupted
last week by Eagles, with that match ending in a goalless draw.
In the match that saw Odi return to winning hopes, Buru took the initial
lead. Mohamed Naim scored for Buru in the 36th minute. He converted a cross
delivered by Ibrahim Usama Hussain Majeed. Odi’s Hungarian defender, Barnabás
Tóth, attempted to tackle the cross but failed to clear the ball, which left
Naim completely unmarked to score.
Buru maintained the lead through the first half, but they could not hold on.
Odi leveled the score just three minutes into the second half. Abdulla Looth
Ibrahim headed in a goal from a corner taken by Ahmed Aiham to equalize for
Odi.
Although the match appeared headed for a draw, Odi changed the result in the
90th minute.
From outside the Buru area, Ahzam Rasheed passed the ball to Muzdhaan Hassan.
Muzdhaan controlled the ball, and finding no space to enter the penalty area,
he struck the ball from outside the D-area, scoring the winning goal.
Muzdhaan's low shot went past the post and into the corner of the goal.
Although the goalkeeper, Mohamed Faisal, attempted to save the ball, he was
unsuccessful.
With this result, Odi moves up to second place with 13 points. New Radiant,
who has played one less match, is now in third place, and Buru is in fourth.
