Maziya beat United Victory with a 4-1 score last night, securing their place at the top of the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League's leaderboard.
Two of Maziya's goals were scored by Spanish forward Sergio Iglesias.
Maziya took the lead early on, with Iglesias scoring in the fifth minute with a cross that was supplied by Hassan Nazim (Choatu).
Even before that, a cross from Nazim created an opportunity for Hamza Mohamed (Hampu) but he was unable to capitalize, with the ball going out for a corner kick.
Maziya's second goal was scored by Hamza in the 35th minute. A ball that was meant for Iglesias rebounded off a United Victory player and made its way to Hamza who was in the penalty box, subsequently scoring with ease.
Before United Victory scored their goal within the first half, Egyptian forward Musthafa Mohamed Ali Al-Shazli had the opportunity to score. He was unable to score after receiving the ball, with Maziya goalkeeper Hussain Shareef stopping the attempt in its tracks.
However, Musthafa put one on the board after scoring a powerful goal from outside the box.
Maziya scored their next two goals during the tail end of the match. The third goal was scored by Iglesias in the 87th minute.
Ghanaian Reagan Obon sent the ball in to Iglesias from outside the penalty box, with the Spanish forward heading the ball to goal. Maziya's fourth goal was scored by defender Luis Paolo during the first minute of extra time.
The corner from Maziya resulted in Paolo heading the ball to goal as well.
Maziya has won four out of their four games played, putting them at the top of the leaderboard. The first position was previously held by Odi Sports.
