Buru Sports secured a narrow 2-1 victory against Green Streets, who played
with only ten players for most of the match.
In the 18th minute of the match, Green's Captain Rilwan Waheed (Riley) was
shown a second yellow card, followed by a red card, after he publicly expressed
dissatisfaction with a referee's decision. The red card decision also drew
displeasure from the Green Streets bench.
Despite playing with a man down, Green Streets made it difficult for Buru to
open the scoring. Buru's first goal was scored during first-half time.
In the fifth minute of first-half time, Mohamed Naim scored for
Buru following an assist from Qasim Thaif. Green's goalkeeper, Ahmed Rameez,
had tried to block the ball, but Naim managed to slot it into the net before
he could get there.
Naim then created the opportunity for Buru's second goal, which was scored
by Abdullah Junaid.
In the 72nd minute, Junaid received a ball from Green's half by
Naif, drove into the box, and fired a shot into the far corner of the goal.
Green Streets' goal was scored by Ubaidah Kadhum Ahmed in the fifth
minute of second-half time. The Iraqi forward headed the ball into the
goal from close range after receiving a cross lifted into the box by a Green
player.
