Around 3,000 tickets have been sold for the Maldives’ Asian Cup qualifier against Tajikistan, with 75 percent of available seats already booked.
Football Association of Maldives (FAM) general secretary Ahmed Zareer said ticket sales had accelerated ahead of the match.
“It will be very busy today,” he said.
Tickets are priced at MVR 50 for staircase areas and MVR 100 for bench seating.
The National Football Stadium currently has a reduced seating capacity of 4,000, as the eastern stands and the cemetery-side staircases are not in use due to poor condition.
To promote the game, FAM organized a children’s event on Saturday.
Today’s match marks the Maldives national team’s first appearance at the Galolhu Stadium in two years. Their last home game there was against Bangladesh in October 2023 during the World Cup qualifier playoffs.
Maldives will face Tajikistan at 3:30pm today.
Captain Samooh Ali said strong fan support would help inspire a good result.
