Football Association of Maldives (FAM) President Ahmed Thoriq (Tom) has been appointed as a member of the FIFA Technical Development Committee for the 2025–2029 term.

The appointment was confirmed during the FIFA Council meeting held on 2 October 2025, in accordance with FIFA Statutes and Governance Regulations.

Thoriq’s appointment marks a historic milestone for Maldivian football, as he becomes the first Maldivian to serve on a FIFA Standing Committee.

His inclusion highlights the growing recognition of the Maldives’ role in advancing football development in the region.

FIFA Technical Development Committee is responsible for shaping global football strategies, including technical advancement, grassroots initiatives, and coach education programs.

FAM said Thoriq’s participation will provide an opportunity to represent Maldivian football on the international stage and contribute to the global development of the sport.
