Abdulla Midhuhath Fahmy (Bichaad) scored a stunning last-minute free kick to secure Victory Sports Club a 1-0 win over Green Streets in their second match of the Dhivehi Premier League (DPL).
Both teams entered today’s game looking to bounce back from opening match defeats. Victory had suffered a heavy 5-0 loss to Buru Sports, while Green Streets lost 2-1 to Club Valencia in their opener.
The match proved challenging for both sides, with few clear chances. Victory, who played without any foreign players in their first match, featured two international signings today: Uzbek defender Javohir Azmov and Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Abdul Fattah.
Despite the additions, the standout moment came from Midhuhath, commonly known as Bichaad, who played a key role in Victory’s promotion to the first division in the last Second Division season.
His brilliant free kick from outside the box in extra time flew into the top corner, leaving Green goalkeeper Ahmed Rameez with no chance. The ball bent perfectly around the wall and went in.
It was the only goal of the match, and Victory’s first goal of the season, bringing relief after a tough start.
This marks the third free kick goal of the DPL season so far. Earlier, New Radiant’s Ali Fasir (Sentey) and Buru Sports’ Mohamed Naeem also scored from set-pieces.
