Maldives secures semi-final slot after defeating India

The Maldivian team participating in the Commonwealth Beach Handball Championship currently being held at Kulhudhuffushi City has defeated India.

This puts Maldives into the semi-finals with them being the third team to secure the spot.

Along with India and Maldives, the other teams that are taking part are Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and South Africa. 

Maldives claimed victory against India in a two-set game, with the scores being 22-20 and 22-19 respectively.

Maldives won three of the five games they played in the league rounds. Maldives' other two wins were against Sri Lanka, the first game of the tournament and against South Africa.

Maldives lost against Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The team that placed first in the league rounds is Pakistan, having won every match they played. Sri Lanka was the second, with the fourth team being Bangladesh.

India and South Africa did not qualify for the semi-finals.

The first semi-final game is set for 4:15pm today, with Pakistan playing against Bangladesh. Maldives will be playing against Sri Lanka today at 5:15pm.

India and South Africa will play a ranking match tomorrow evening. The two teams that do not make it to the finals will compete against each other for third place tomorrow as well.

The final match will be held tomorrow night.
