Youngest captain scores for Valencia securing win

Ethan Ibrahim Zaki, the youngest Dhivehi Premier League (DPL) at the age of 16, has scored and assisted in Valencia's game against Green Streets, securing a 2-1 win.

Ethan scored in the 13th minute of last night's match, securing a fast lead. He was assisted by Ahmed Kain Ghayash, a player who is currently 16 years, 11 months and 12 days of age.

Ethan donned Valencia's Captain's Badge for the first time last night and was 16 years, 10 months and 14 days of age.

Ethan and Kain played for Valencia during the 2023 season as well, both of them being 14 years old at the time.

Green Streets got the chance to score a goal in the first half but failed to capitalize. Valencia managed to strengthen their lead in the 66th minute as their forward Abubakar Seela scored their second goal. He was assisted by Ethan via a cross, with Abubakar heading the ball into the net.

Ethan was named Player of the Match against Green Streets. He had also scored during the 2023 season against United Victory, where Valencia was defeated 2-1.

"I give all my thanks to the coaches, my teammates and supporters. This is a joyful day for me. It's one of my biggest goals to bring about good results in the DPL and this is the first step towards that," said Ethan during a post-game interview with Mihaaru News.

"This season, I as captain along with my teammates, want to bring about good results regardless of whichever team we play against."

Green Streets scored in the final minute of the game. The goal was scored by Egyptian forward Obaidha Kedhum Ahmed. He played for Da Grande Sports Club in the 2019/2020 season.
