Competing in the first division for the very first time, Odi Sports secured an impressive 4–0 win over United Victory (UV) in the Dhivehi Premier League match held last evening.

Odi Sports qualified for the first division as champions of the second division. Following their promotion, the club underwent a rebranding last year, changing its name and logo to "Odi."

Many of the players who competed in the second division remained with the team. However, the coaching staff saw changes ahead of the season. Australian coach Andrew Gillen led the team during the FA League Cup in May but resigned after the first match due to family obligations. The team then began their league campaign under Spanish coach Andres Garcia.

Abdullah Looth Ibrahim scored Odi’s historic first goal in the first division, finding the net in the 28th minute.

Among the standout players in Odi’s debut match was former national team defender Mohamed Rasheed. Rasheed, who had previously retired due to health issues, made a remarkable return to football after a four-year absence. He had also featured for Odi during their second division campaign.

Another key player in the match was Ibrahim Waheedh Hassan (Ibbe), who returned to first-division after two years. He had signed with Valencia last season but was not registered due to the club's transfer ban. Having been out of official matches for nearly nine months, Waheed resumed playing in the second division and was back in form for this match. He scored Odi’s second goal.

The other two goals were scored by Ahzam Rasheed and Muzdhan Hassan, sealing a dominant first-division debut for Odi.
