FIFA President Gianni Infantino congratulated Maldives on their South Asian Super Cup win after defeating Sri Lanka.
FAM President Thoriq is currently in Switzerland and met with Gianni Infantino yesterday.
This is the first time Thoriq is meeting with FIFA's President, as he is fulfilling his second term as FAM President.
Infantino took to social media and praised Thoriq's efforts in getting Maldivian football back on its feet.
For the first time in 10 years, a Women's 11-side football tournament is to be held in December.

Infantino highlighted that the Super Cup is the first trophy Maldives has secured in the last seven years and congratulated the Maldivian National Football team on their victory.
"As a former player himself, I have absolutely no doubt as to President Thoriq's experience and foresight in the work that he's doing," said Infantino on social media.
Infantino, who is on his third term as the President of FIFA, said that a lot of good work is underway at FAM under Thoriq's leadership.

"The positive direction of Maldivian football has been set and is shown in their victory of the South Asian Super Cup and their prioritization and attention towards Women's football with the advent of a Women's football tournament at the end of the year," wrote Infantino.
FAM was run under a Normalization Committee that was appointed by FIFA up until 26th July. With former FAM President Bassam Adeel Jaleel's mismanagement of FAM's development funds, FIFA proceeded to cut off that funding.
In order to oversee and strengthen FAM's financial situation, FIFA arranged for German financial firm "Ankura" to handle said task for two years.
