The Under-17 SAFF Championship that began yesterday in Sri Lanka saw Group B contestants India and Pakistan win their first matches. Maldives is also in Group B.
The first group match was Maldives against India, with title-defenders India winning the game with a score of 6-0.
India's Dallalmuon Gangte scored two goals, with Hrishikesh Charan Manavathi, Kamgouhao Doungel, Wangkheirakpam Gunleiba, and Aazim Parveez Najar scoring a goal each.
Bhutan, a team that has won the AFC award for Most Aspiring Federation, was unable to do much against Pakistan.
Pakistan, who have been trying to bring football back onto its feet, brought their U-17 National Team together by conducting trials across various regions.

The trials allowed them to pick out the most skilled players, with the squad playing together since.
Pakistan won against Bhutan with a 4-0 score, with Mohamed Abdulla scoring a hat trick and the fourth goal being scored by Hamza Yasir.
The next group game will see Maldives face off against Pakistan. It is predicted that Maziya forward Ilan Imran will be playing in that game. The 16-year old played for Maziya during the Charity Shield match on Monday.
Group A of the championship has Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh. The first game of the championship saw Nepal win against Sri Lanka with a score of 2-0.
