Ali Javeed (Jatte), two-time Bodyboarding National League champion, has claimed victory in the bodyboarding event held as part of a National Surf League tournament in the Maldives.
The historic win came at the "Kerandhoo" tournament in L. Mabaidhoo, where Jatte scored 12.37 points in the final heat, edging out young bodyboarder Mohamed Kaif, who finished with 11.67 points.
A total of 10 athletes took part in the event, including some of the Maldives' top names in bodyboarding.
In the semi-finals:
- Jatte faced Ameen Umar Moosa, winner of the first two bodyboarding tournaments this year (Burunu Shikaar and Labera Bodyboarding Challenge). Jatte narrowly won the heat with 11.50 points, while Ameen scored 11.17.
- Kaif competed against veteran Aswan Mohamed, winning by just 0.01 points (10.34 vs. 10.33).

In the quarterfinals:
- Ameen and Kaif defeated junior brothers Nooh Mohamed Dhuneim Irshad and Noah Mohamed Dhuneim Irshad.
- Aswan and Jatte overcame Ian Ahmed and Ahmed Anfala.
Eyan Ahmed, a standout junior competitor, won this year's Burunu Shikaar title and had previously beaten Jatte in last year’s Bandufila Challenge open final.
This marks the first time bodyboarding has been included in a National Surf League event organized by the Maldives Surfing Association (MSA), making Jatte the first champion under this new format.
