“There’s been quite a lot of cooperation from school students, parents and island residents. People have been selling various things from carts within the area, with the council granting the request to do so on that piece of land. It was a new experience for them to go watch the tournament in groups. It’s quite festive and has started very successfully,” said council President to “Laamu MV”.

The council has arranged breakfast, lunch and evening tea for tournament participants and officials within the tournament area, with the council appreciating the cooperation of the residents in these arrangements.

This is the first time a league tournament is being held in Laamu Atoll. The national league, which was introduced by MSA in 2022 has already been held in GDh. Gadhdhoo, M. Muli, Male’, R. Kinolhas, K. Himmafushi and K. Thulusdhoo. Maabaidhoo Council’s hope is that the event can be hosted in an even more complete fashion in the years to come.
