A Maldivian junior athletes team has left to compete in Malaysia’s CAK Academy’s track and field championship.
Six athletes from Maldives will be participating in the tournament, labeled the “Super Hero Track and Field Championship”:
- Naseer Sports Academy: Mariyam Anjal Radheef, Mohamed Izan Radheef, Nooh Ihlas Salman, Mohamed Ulman Hassan, Yuan Ahthar.
- Saaid Sports Academy: Ulwan Ibrahim.
Former number one runner Naseer Ismail went with the athletes as their coach.
Naseer has said that even though athletes from two academies are going, they will be competing under the banner of Team Maldives.
“The athletes will compete under the banner of Team Maldives. Saaid Academy’s Ulwan will also be running in the relay event under the name of Team Maldives.”
The championship will be held at Bangi, Malaysia, from Sunday to Monday, with this being the second season of this event. The first season was held in April.
