New Radiant, currently in the Second Division and set to compete for a spot in the Dhivehi Premier League, has signed Forward/Striker Ali Fasir (Sentey).
While it hasn't been officially confirmed yet, New Radiant Chairman Ahmed Mubeen posted "Ali Fasir: Number 10" on social media, hinting towards the move. Fasir has been playing for Maziya S&RC for the last two seasons.
Due to Super United Sports' (SUS) financial situation, they had to drop out of the league, with the vacant spot to be filled by either New Radiant or Tent Sports, teams that suffered defeat in the 2nd Division semi-finals. There are talks that the FAM ExCo will give the vacant spot to the team that has the least amount of goals scored against them. In that situation, New Radiant will be granted the vacant spot.
New Radiant is building a formidable team filled with popular players, with the team to have a decorated coach on their side, Ali Suzain. Due to Suzain having played in Victory Sports Club, a rival of New Radiant, the news came as a surprise to fans.
Fasir has played for New Radiant three times over in the past, having garnered significant achievements a swell. Hailing from Club All Youth Linkage (AYL), Fasir played for New Radiant for the first time in 2011, then in 2013. In the 2013 season, he managed to win all matches, secure every competition and climb to the quarter finals of the AFC Cup.
