The Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has shortlisted six coaches for the position of head coach of the national futsal team.

Among the top candidates are Mohamed Ihsan Saeed (UB) and Hussain Nishaah, two of the country’s highest-profile futsal coaches. Both currently work at Bis Buru Sports Academy and are the only Maldivians to have completed the AFC Futsal Coaching Level 2 License, which they earned during a course held in Indonesia earlier this year.

Nishaah has also been actively involved in this year’s Golden Futsal Tournament, coaching the Sh. Feydhoo team to the finals of the atoll-level tournament. In addition, he has contributed to the organization of several local futsal tournaments.

Other nominees include former national footballers Ahmed Niyaz (Niyate) and Mohamed Fuhaidh (Toad). Niyaz, a standout player during New Radiant’s undefeated 2003 season, earned his A License in football coaching last year and holds a Level 1 futsal coaching license.

Two additional applicants are Mohamed Mahzoom, currently residing in the UK, and Abdul Hameed Mohamed (Hamitte), who works at Maziya Academy. Hameed holds a Futsal Level 1 License and has twice won the Club Maldives Tournament. He served as the coach of MIB in last year’s edition and also completed the Football A License course last year.

FAM has announced that preference will be given to candidates holding the AFC Futsal Level 2 License and those with experience coaching futsal teams at the national level.
