This years second competition from the Maldives National Bodyboarding League (MNBL) will be the Labera Challenge instead of the Fuvahmulah Bodyboarding Challenge, as stated by the Maldives Bodyboarding Association (MBBA).
The Labera Challenge was not included in the yearly calendar that was released in January. The calendar had the Burunu Shikaaru as the first challenge, with the Fuvahmulah competition in August and the last competition, the National Bandufilaa Challenge in September.
However, the MBBA has decided to change the Fuvahmulah competition to the Labera Challenge to be hosted at Male's Varunulaa Raalhugandu from 5th August to 8th August.
MBBA stated that the change occurred due to current varied circumstances. Contestants can start registering on Friday, with registration formally beginning on and ending on Saturday.
This is the 4th Labera Challenge that is being hosted. Ali Khushruwan (Kuda Ayya) claimed the title as champion in the last three challenges, with Junior Champion being named Fuvahmulah's Mohamed Azaan.
The national league began with the start of last months Burunu Shikaaru. The Men's Open saw Aamin Umar Moosa claim the title of champion. Eyan Ahmed claimed the title of Junior champion, with Kuda Ayya claiming the champion title in the Dropknee category.
