This year's National Volleyball Championship sees Dhivehi Sifainge Club (DSC) face off against HDC once again.
HDC earned their finals spot last night at the indoor court of Social Center. The third semi-final had HDC make a comeback win with a 3-1 set score, beating Dhadimagu Sports and Recreation Club in the process.
Dhadimagu took the first set win with a 25-23 score, while the next three sets were won by HDC in scores of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-23. The Man of the Match was named Ismail Sajid (Kuda Kaattey) from HDC, with Dhadimagu Sports earning third at the championship.
Dhadimagu, having earned second place in the National Volleyball League, suffered defeat at the hands of Dhivehi Sifainge Club during their first game of the championship, earning Dhivehi Sifainge Club the first spot in the finals.
HDC, having earned fourth in the National Volleyball League, got themselves a win during their first game of the championship against Huraa Community Club. Their victory over Dhadimagu got them through to the final for the third time in a row.
HDC and DSC were the teams that were duking it out in the championship finals for the last two years. In 2023, HDC was fighting for the championship under the name Club Urbanco. Dhivehi Sifainge Club has come out on top against HDC two years running.
Dhivehi Sifainge Club has contested the championship in the finals 10 years in a row. The club has won the championship four time out of the last 9 they've been to the finals.
