DSC crowned champions despite loss to HDC

Dhivehi Sifainge Club (DSC) have been crowned the National Volleyball League 2025 Champions despite losing three sets in a row to HDC last night.

HDC won with set scores of 25-22, 25-22 and 27-25. The Man of the Match was named Sebastian Giraldo Gomez.

DSC was confirmed to be the champions due to yesterday evening's game where Fuvahmulah's Dhadimagu Sports and Recreation Club clinching a 3-1 set win against Huraa Community Club.

With set scores of 25-17, 25-20, 30-32 and 26-24, Dhadimagu racked up seven points to cement second place in the league. Huraa came in fourth with six points.

HDC won three sets in a row against DSC, with set scores of 25-21, 26-24 and 25-11, securing their place in the top four. They finished third in the league with six points.

Association cup winners DSC won three out of four matches and finished the league with 8 points. They pulled back a win against Dhadimagu with set scores of 14-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-21 and 15-5.

The top four teams in the league will get to secure their spot in the national championship games. Police Club didn't make the cut, having been in fifth place in the league with three points.

The National Volleyball Championship is set to take place from Friday (11th July 2025) to Monday (14th July 2025).
