Thoriq contests in FAM Election with backing from all clubs

Ahmed Thoriq (nicknamed Tom) has been nominated to be the FAM President with full support from all FAM member clubs.

With all 23 member clubs backing Thoriq, no other candidate will be able to compete in the upcoming 26th July 2025 election.

FAM guidelines state that those who want to run in this election have to produce a candidate form along with letters of endorsement from at least two Division One clubs, with a total of five recommendation letters across all divisions.

Any one club may produce a recommendation letter for just one nominee. And due to Thoriq receiving a recommendation letter from all 23 clubs, no other candidates will have the chance to run in the election.

Thoriq, who used to play as a Forward in Maldives National Football Team, has taken up the FAM Presidents role in the past as well. However, when all the members of the executive committee resigned, the committee dissolved and Thoriq lost his position as a result.
