FAM Election candidacy opens tomorrow

Football Association of Maldives (FAM) congress has decided to open candidacy for the July 26 election from tomorrow onwards.

The FAM's new constitution was passed unanimously in the congress held today at Meeruma Hotel, and a decision was made to hold the association's elections.

As per the final page of the new statutes, candidacy will be opened tomorrow.

- July 28 - announcement of election and open applications for candidacy

- July 6 - Deadline for applying for candidacy

- July 9 - Deadline to inform applicants of any missing information on candidacy forms

- July 13 - Deadline for submitting any amendments to candidacy forms

- July 15 - Deadline for notifying Electoral Commission's decision on candidacy forms

- July 16 - Final meeting held 10 days ahead of elections. At this meeting, the Electoral Congress' agenda and official candidate numbers will be announced.

- July 26 - Electoral congress will be held

As per the statutes, endorsements from five clubs must be submitted alongside candidacy form. Of these, a minimum of two must be from First Division clubs.

As of now, only former FAM president Ahmed Thoriq has announced his intention to contest in the elections.
