The Men's Division Volley Season, set to start this week, has had to be postponed so as to allow another event to be held at the Indoor Court at Social Centre.

The Volley Season, which includes VAM Cup, National League, National Championship and CAVA Champions League will now commence on June 24.

VAM Senior Vice President and former National Team Coach Mohamed Sajid (Kaattey) said that this is a huge loss to teams and players.

He said that shortening the duration of the season would result in players being unable to perform at their best.

"This will cause clubs to go into debt, and when the tournament is shortened and three matches have to be played in a day, players will be injured and unable to perform at their best," he said in a post on social media.

He raised concerns that of late, Indoor Hall is often booked for other events during the volley season.

At times, the Indoor Hall is used for other events even during the times it's booked for VAM, with the Women's Division Volley Season also having had to be interrupted for the same reason.

In a circular sent to teams, VAM said that the inconveniences delaying the tournament would cause clubs has been shared with Sports Minister Abdulla Rafiu.

The association said that two days previously booked by the Ministry has been granted to VAM: July 22 and 23.

Due to this, the season's last tournament, the CAVA Champions League's final match will be held on July 23.
