Odi Sports defender Ahmed Aiham and Inaaz have been selected for the Maldives senior national football team, as announced by head coach Ali Suzain.

The 23-man squad will face Timor-Leste in the second Asian Cup qualifier.

Aiham and Inaaz performed well in the recently concluded FAM League Cup, a tournament organized outside the official season to help identify players for the national squad. Despite not all clubs participating, Coach Suzain included several players from both participating and non-participating teams.

Maziya has the highest representation, with 13 players in the squad. Odi Sports has five players called up, including Aiham, who played in the final against Maziya.

Inaaz, who represented TC Sports Club in the tournament, also earned a spot. Victory’s young goalkeeper Mohamed Yameen returned to the national team after a break. He was previously part of the squad for friendlies against Bangladesh last year. Odi midfielder Haisham Rasheed is also back after a hiatus.

Club Eagles, which did not participate in the League Cup, has one representative player selected; Ahmed Rizwan who won the Sports Awards Player of the Year.

Buru Sports, another non-participating club, has two players in the squad; Mohamed Naeem and Ibrahim Osama Hassan Majeed.

Maldives will play a friendly against Singapore on June 5 in Singapore. The Asian Cup qualifier against Timor-Leste will be held on June 10 in Marara, Australia, as Timor-Leste does not have a FIFA-standard stadium.

Maldives lost their opening qualifier 4-1 to the Philippines, while Timor-Leste lost 1-0 to Tajikistan in their first match.
