The Asia Central Zone Volleyball Association (CAVA) Beach Volleyball Tournament is set to take place in Addu City this August.

Mohamed Latheef, President of both the Volleyball Association of Maldives (VAM) and CAVA, said that they proposed hosting the tournament in Addu to the Ministry of Sports. The CAVA Executive Board endorsed the recommendation following discussions.

Latheef, who also serves as Vice President of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), said invitations have been extended to 14 countries within the CAVA region. Based on past trends from previous tournaments, he anticipates at least nine nations will field teams.

“Perhaps nine of the fourteen CAVA countries will participate or even more,” Latheef stated.

To accommodate preparations for the international event, VAM has postponed the previously announced Raajje Beach Volleyball League, which was intended to take place across islands and cities.
