TC Youth League goalkeeper Ashham promoted to senior squad

TC goalkeeper Ashham Athif, who impressed during the first Dhivehi Youth League, has been promoted to TC Sports Club’s senior team.

Ashham played a key role in securing the Under-14 title for TC academy, earning a place in the league’s dream team for his standout performances.

As Football Association of Maldives (FAM) prepares for the upcoming League Cup, Ashham is expected to be given game time.

Ashham, son of former goalkeeper Ahmed Athif, has been under the guidance of former Maldives national team goalkeeper trainer Aslam Abdul Raheem.

His development has also been shaped by academy head coach Moosa Manik, one of the country’s most celebrated football figures and his son and assistant coach Muaan Moosa Manik.

“Coach Moosa and Muaan gave me the opportunity,” Ashham said.

“Coach Moosa really believes in me and always encourages me to improve.”

The young keeper was first spotted by the duo during last year’s Soccer Veterans Under-13 Academy tournament, where he played for Vilimale' United Academy.
