Maldivian bodybuilders Mohamed Moosa (Mode) and Azneen Rashad have set records in the South Asian tournament held in the Maldives. The Maldivian team secured a total of nine medals, including four gold, four silver, and one bronze.

Mohamed Moosa, Azneen Rashad, Mohamed Yaameen (Yaambe), and Abdulla Ahsan, claimed the gold medals in in the tournament.

Mohamed Moosa (Mode) secured a gold medal in the bodybuilding category, while Azneen Rashad claimed gold in the physique category. This dual victory by Moosa and Azneen in two distinct categories marked a historic moment for the Maldives, as they became the first athletes from the nation to achieve gold medals in two consecutive tournaments.

The junior category participants also excelled in the competition, with Fathuhulla Mohamed, Mohamed Imrah Ibrahim, Shaal Ibrahim, and Ashyam Mohamed Shafeeq all securing silver medals for their performances.

The event marked the second time the tournament was hosted in the Maldives, with the inaugural tournament taking place in 2001 at Bandos Island Resort.

The next upcoming competition is the Asian Championship, scheduled to be held in Nepal in September. A team of six athletes has been selected to represent the Maldives. The team comprises Mohamed Moosa (Mode), Mohamed Yaameen (Yaambe), Abdulla Ahsan, Fathuhulla Mohamed, Azneen Rashad, and Mohamed Imrah Ibrahim.
