Maldives team set a new national record, in the category of the 4x100 meter long course mixed medley relay at the 18th FINA Swimming World Championship taking place in South Korea.

The national team, comprising of Aishath Sausan, Aishath Sajina, Mubal Azzam Ibrahim, and Ali Imaan, set the record by completing the relay in 4:56.79 minutes.

The 18th FINA Swimming World Championships is taking place between July 12- 28.

The previous record for the 4x100 meter long course mixed race was a completion time of 5:06.67 minutes that was achieved in 2018, at the 18th Asian Games.

The previous record was also set by a national swimming squad comprised of the same athletes.
