The first batch of doctors who underwent their training in Maldives has graduated today.
Certificates were presented to 22 graduates by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at the Maldives National University Graduation Ceremony held at Dharubaaruge today.
The four graduates who achieved first place in the course are:
- Aminath Wafira
- Asra Ismail
- Ma'aanee Fathuhullah Ismail
- Yasra Ismail
MNU started training doctors in affiliation with Malaysia's Kebangsaan University in September, 2018.
Students sat for the final exam of the five year course in July, with all students passing. The second batch are also currently doing their final exams.
Dean of the Medicine School Dr Sheeza Ali earlier said that there were many challenges in conducting the MBBS program as it was a new introduction. However, she is pleased with the good results that all the students have achieved.
The theory lessons are conducted by local and foreign doctors. Clinical practice is conducted in Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital and ADK Hospital.
