Maldives Customs has seized drugs worth MVR 500,000 smuggled into the Maldives via courier.
Customs said that substances suspected to be drugs was found during a search of parcels imported by air freight on April 28. Upon testing, the drugs were tested positive for methamphetamine.
Customs said the drugs seized weighed 1.3 kilos and the drugs were handed over to the police. However, no arrests have been made in connection to the case.
Minister of Health Ahmed Naseem had stated at the end of last year, that meth which contains many addictive substances has become common in the Maldives.
